My my, they could never let it go.

“Mamma Mia” star Christine Baranski, 72, told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published on Aug. 13, “I was in London with [producer] Judy Kramer at our favorite watering hole, she is planning Mamma Mia 3. She gave me the narrative plotline of how it’s going to happen.”

“The Gilded Age” star explained that Kramer was the type of producer who “makes things happen” instead of saying that she “[wishes] it could happen.”

Baranski said the producer made the second “Mamma Mia” movie, 2018’s ”Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” happen, and it was “a phenomenal hit,” so she “wouldn’t put it past” her “to get everybody back together.”

The second film grossed over $400 million at the global box office on a $75 million budget.

The first “Mamma Mia!” movie premiered in 2008. Based on the music of ABBA, it was set on the fictional Greek island of Kalokairi. It followed a bride, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), who secretly invited three men to the wedding who might be her father: Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Bill (Stellan Skarsgard) and Harry (Colin Firth).

Meryl Streep plays her mother, Donna, and Baranski plays Tanya, a wealthy divorcée and Donna’s friend.

In the zany second movie, Sophie prepares to re-open her now-deceased mother’s hotel while flashbacks show a young Donna (played by Lily James). The second movie ended with Sophie having a baby boy while Donna’s ghost looks on.

Kramer previously hinted at a third film in an interview with Vogue, saying that there “has to be another one” because fans want it.

She added, “The trouble is we’re all getting older…But, we couldn’t be in a better place as far as having a cast who are eager to do it.”

Streep told the outlet that she would participate in future movies.

“I’m up for anything… I told Judy if she could figure out a way to reincarnate Donna, I’m into that. Or it could be like in one of those soap operas where Donna comes back and reveals it was really her twin sister that died,” the Oscar winner said.

Baranski said that she was eager to film in Greece.

“We’ll all be on some fabulous Greek or Croatian island having a blast,” Baranski shared about the third film. “I hope.”

“The Good Fight” star went on to tip her hat to the franchise’s fans.

“Mamma Mia! [has] made so many millions of people around the world happy,” she said.

“Is it a little dumb, a little campy? That’s part of its charm.”

She said that when she travels, young fans approach her.

“When I’m in Europe, I can’t tell you how many little girls want to be photographed with Tanya. It troubles me a little, that Tanya’s their favorite character,” she stated.

“But, hey, we’re always attracted to that kind of snappy, sexy lady.”
