On June 15th, 1983, the New York Mets traded relief pitchers Neil Allen and Rick Ownbey to the St. Louis Cardinals for Keith Hernandez. From 1984 until 1990, Hernandez shined at first base for the Amazins, as he collected several Gold Gloves, All-Star Game appearances and led the Mets to a World Series title in 1986 before being named team captain in 1987.
