Giancarlo Stanton faced Luis Severino in the live batting practice on Tuesday and went through the rest of his pregame routine.

The expectation is he will be activated on Thursday to be designated hitter in the opener of a four-game series at Oakland. Stanton, who has been out since July 23 with left Achilles tendinitis, will work his way back into an outfield spot.

“He looked good,’’ Severino said before the Yankees’ 4-2 win over the Mets at the Stadium. “He almost hit one out, but it was foul.”

Estevan Florial was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following the game to open up a roster spot for Stanton.

Andrew Benintendi had his third consecutive two-hit game and drove in another run Tuesday.

“He’s settling in,” Aaron Boone said after the game.

After he got off to a slow start (especially at Yankee Stadium) following his acquisition from the Royals, Benintendi is 7-for-14 in his last four games.

The fact he not only has hit better overall, but also in The Bronx, is encouraging.

Even after he went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs on Sunday and 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs on Monday, Benintendi entered Tuesday hitting just .188 (9-for-48) with a homer, six RBIs and an OPS of .699 in 62 plate appearances in The Bronx this season.

Zack Britton is scheduled to start a minor league rehab assignment Wednesday with Low-A Tampa as he continues his comeback from UCL surgery last year.

Boone said the left-hander would open the game and wouldn’t throw more than 15 pitches.

After taking a 104 mph liner by James McCann off his calf Monday, Domingo German looked fine Tuesday and was able to run for 45 minutes, according to Boone.

“He’s really good. We were at least a little bit concerned coming in,” Boone said. “It’s encouraging.”

Despite the lack of production from DJ LeMahieu (toe) and Anthony Rizzo (back) since their return from injuries, Boone said both are OK, although they may have to deal with the issues the rest of the season.
