The Knicks apparently don’t need to see more from RJ Barrett to be convinced he’s a big part of their future.
The 22-year-old wing and the team are finalizing a four-year rookie contract extension that could be worth up to $120 million, his agent Bill Duffy told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski Monday night. Barrett is coming off a third season with the Knicks where he averaged 20 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists.
According to Wojnarowski, The extension could complicate the Knicks’ pursuit of a trade for Jazz superstar Donovan Mitchell, who is due to make $30.35 million this season. Barrett’s new deal likely takes him off the table in any potential trade.
