Don’t tell Paulina Gretzky that LIV Golf wins don’t matter.
Gretzky posted several videos and photos to her Instagram Stories to celebrate husband Dustin Johnson’s LIV Boston playoff victory on Sunday that netted the star $4 million.
“I got excited at the end,” Gretzky captioned one video of Johnson making a putt.
Johnson was the the first big name to bolt from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf for a reported $125 million, shocking the golf community and paving the way for others to join him for the riches of the Saudi-funded rival tour.
Gretzky’s social media celebration included photos with best friend Kristina Melnichenko, a GIF of her and Johnson embracing and a group photo from a plane celebration.
Johnson rammed home a clutch eagle putt on 18 to seal the victory.
“It was going a little fast, but it was a good line,” Johnson told reporters after the round. “I got some unlucky breaks [on No. 18] the first time around. It owed me one, and I got it.”
Johnson scrambled to make par on 18 during the round to to qualify for the sudden-death playoff with Joaquin Niemann and Anirban Lahiri at 15-under par.
The top PGA Tour pros have criticized LIV Golf for its’ 54-hole, no-cut format. Johnson’s victory gives the tour its first signature moment. It comes in the fourth event of the season and one week after the PGA Tour wrapped up.
“LFG!!!! UNBELIEVABLE,” Paulina’s brother, Trevor Gretzky, posted over video of the finishing shot.
Johnson and Gretzky married in April at the lavish Blackberry Farm resort in Tennessee.
