Black Lives Matter has been pilloried after its co-founder, Melina Abdullah, came out in support of disgraced actor Jussie Smollett.
Mr Smollett has been charged with six felony counts of disorderly conduct after Chicago police allege the actor staged a racist and homophobic attack in January, 2019.
Prosecutors claim the 39-year-old actor planned the hoax to get attention and boost his claims for a more lucrative contract.
The actor was later found guilty on five of the six felony charges.
