Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly will visit Ukraine this week to reaffirm support for the country’s sovereignty and reinforce efforts to deter Russia’s “aggressive actions”.
Moscow has stationed more than 100,000 troops near the Ukraine border – with the United States saying it fears there’ll be an invasion – if diplomacy failed to meet its objectives.
Ms Joly says the amassing of Russian troops and equipment in and around the region jeopardises security and these aggressive actions must be deterred.
