United States Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin has warned Russia that an attack on Ukraine is an attack against all NATO members.
There are 8,500 US troops on heightened alert ready to be deployed to Eastern Europe but America has no immediate plans to send troops to Ukraine.
In a rapidly changing situation, America’s commitment to its fellow NATO allies is what has been described as “iron-clad” and a “sacred obligation”.
