Larry Birkhead is one teary-eyed and proud dad!
The 50-year-old posted a beautiful video montage on social media to celebrate his daughter Dannielynn’s 17th birthday on Thursday.
The former actor shares his only child with late Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith.
“Happy 17th Birthday Dannielynn!” he wrote via Instagram. “I am so proud of you in each and every way. Wishing you the best day ever!”
The photographer went on: “You are funny, crazy smart, pretty and just about everything I could ever imagine. Your Mom would be so proud of you, I sure am.”
“Happy Birthday! Love Dad ❤️,” he added. “By the way, when you asked me if you could live in my basement forever, I said yes, but I didn’t have the heart to tell you there aren’t any basements in Florida 😂 ❤️ #HappyBirthday 🎂.”
Dannielynn was 5 months old when Smith died on Feb. 8, 2007, from an accidental overdose. Smith was found unresponsive in her hotel room in Hollywood, Florida, where she died at the age of 39.
Smith initially claimed that Dannielynn’s father was Howard K. Stern, her attorney at the time. However, a paternity court battle ultimately determined that Birkhead was Dannielynn’s biological father in 2007.
Last year, Birkhead paid tribute to Smith on the 15th anniversary of her death.
“Still remembering this one 15 years after her death. She was truly one of a kind. She struggled for love and acceptance,” the Kentucky-born native wrote on Instagram at the time. “Just when she found a little piece of one or the other, life seemed to sabotage. Today, I remember your heart, your soul and your beauty, both inside and out.”
He concluded: “Your love is alive still to this day, in the form of a truly one of a kind teenager with her Mom’s smile, beauty and courage. Thanks to Anna’s fans for helping keep her memory alive. We love you Anna Nicole #annanicolesmith #loveisalive#ifmomcouldseeyounow.”
Smith and Birkhead recently made headlines when Netflix released a documentary about the actress, titled “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me,” in May.
However, Birkhead denied any involvement and participation in the project.
“We aren’t involved in the Anna Nicole Netflix documentary,” he exclusively told The Post in April, noting that they’re planning their “own special project” for future release. “I just decided to pass on this and do our own project using Anna’s archives that she left behind.”
“You can’t get any more definitive than Anna in her own words!” he added. “So, it was important for me to let Anna tell her own story.”
