Daniel Jones has more ambitious goals than just being ready for the start of the 2024 season.

In his first interview since undergoing knee surgery the day after Thanksgiving, the injured Giants quarterback said that his ACL repair went well and he already is attacking the rehab process.

He wore a knee brace that stretched from his thigh to his ankle as he walked through the Giants locker room at MetLife Stadium.

“It’s definitely the goal to be back by training camp,” Jones said. “I’m focused on what I’m doing right now and what’s directly in front of me, but long-term it’s definitely the goal to be back by training camp.”

A lot can change between now and then, including the possibility that the Giants draft a quarterback to compete against Jones to start.

So, does he still see himself as the franchise’s quarterback of the future?

“Yeah, I do,” Jones said. “I’m focused on rehabbing and getting back on the field.”

While his teammates practiced across the street, Jones presented Putnam Valley High School football team manager Eduardo Recinos with the 2023 USA Football Heart of a Giant award.

Recinos earned a $10,000 equipment grant for the program and received two tickets to the upcoming Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
