LeBron James has an interesting plan to help the Lakers — turning to his son.
James said he thinks his son, Bronny, could suit up to help the Lakers during their four-game losing streak.
James, 39, made the claim after the Lakers fell to the Grizzlies on Friday night, 127-113, marking the team’s 10th loss in the last 13 games.
“I’m not thinking that far back in the past,” LeBron said after the game, according to The Guardian. “It was just two games. We suck right now.”
The Lakers star then proceeded to say his teenage son could make a difference for the team by claiming the 18-year-old USC freshman could sub in for the Lakers immediately.
“He could play for us right now. Easy. EASY,” he said.
Emotions were high after the loss, one that turned especially ugly.
In the third quarter, with the game tied at 75, a scuffle broke out between James and former NBA Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson.
During a fight for possession, James appeared to hit Jackson in the face with either his elbow or forearm, which caused Memphis head coach Taylor Jenkins to blow up.
The Grizzlies head coach ran onto the court in protest of the lack of call, causing him to nearly collide with the Lakers’ Taurean Prince and stop a Los Angeles fast break.
After the game, Jenkins apologized for getting carried away after the game to Lakers head coach Darvin Ham.
“You can’t do that, so I take full responsibility there,” Jenkins said. “I saw a tussle there, Jaren’s clamping LeBron, then I saw something that crossed the line … I had to stand up for my guy.”
Bronny made his collegiate debut at USC in December after missing more than four months after suffering cardiac arrest in July.
Since then, he has been averaging 7.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists for the Trojans.
In his last two games, he’s scored 15 and 10 points, respectively.
