The catcher cleared the right-field fence in the eighth inning of the Mets’ 10-5 loss to the Cardinals in Port St. Lucie.
Lefty scuffle
Though all four runs he surrendered were unearned, reliever Josh Walker had a rough fourth inning, allowing three hits and a walk.
Caught my eye
Brett Baty was charged for a throwing error, but in this case disregard the boxscore: Baty unleashed an accurate throw to the plate on Thomas Saggese’s grounder in the fourth inning, but the ball was never secured by Tomas Nido as he attempted to tag Victor Scott II.
Sunday’s schedule
