Will they or won’t they?
It’s always the question on everyone’s mind at the villa, and now it’s what we’re wondering in response to rumors that “Love Island U.K.” is planning its first-ever all-stars season.
The matchmaking reality show once had a gravitational power for viewers overseas, notably in the U.K., spawning more than 20 iterations in different countries since the British series started in 2015.
But the Season 10 finale, which aired Monday, continued a pattern of declining ratings and attracted a mere 1.3 million viewers — down from 2.9 million for last summer’s season finale.
Now ITV is taking a page from the playbook guiding “The Bachelor” and realizing that if there’s one thing that can revive the show’s ratings, it’s a familiar face.
For the “Love Island” winter 2024 show, the beloved British broadcaster is reportedly giving former contestants a chance to lace up their bikini strings and step back into the villa.
Since “Love Island” alums are practically all-stars already, the possibilities for the show’s cast are endless.
Maybe hearing Georgia Steel once again say, “I’m loyal,” is exactly the boost the show needs.
Or perhaps Season 4 starlet Megan Barton Hanson will help remind viewers why “Love Island” is more iconic than newer iterations of the reality dating show, like Netflix offerings “Too Hot to Handle” and “Love is Blind.”
Putting a ring on it has ruled out some of the most popular cast members of villas past — like Season 5’s Maura Higgins and Season 3’s Olivia Attwood — but there’s still hope that those lucky in love will return for cameos.
The all-stars season will also reportedly draw not only from U.K. contestants but also from U.S. and Australian alums — crikey!
