The soon-to-be husband of Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and self-professed shaman has accused the royal’s friends of racism.

Durek Verrett, who is set to tie the knot with the King of Norway’s eldest daughter next week, claimed that Märtha Louise’s pals displayed “racist” and “disrespectful” behavior toward him when they first met.

Verrett, 49, revealed that he decided to fill everyone’s water glasses after a member of staff had fallen ill during a dinner party.

“I decided to pour water to everyone’s cups and one of Martha’s friends, the guy said, ‘Oh this is what you should be doing. This is what you’re meant to be doing’ And they all laughed,” Verrett said on the Nettavisen‘s “Stavrum & Eikeland” podcast.

“That is so racist and so disrespectful and so rude in front of Martha’s parents,” he said of the remark, adding that Märtha Louise’s parents, King Harald and Queen Sonja, “noticed it and didn’t like it.”

“It wasn’t pleasant to have that type of energy of every time Martha was with her friends,” he added.

Verrett, who claims to be a sixth-generation shaman, added that Märtha Louise’s friends kept telling her to end the romance in the early days of their relationship.

“They were like ‘Call him up, break up with him now.’ They would put the phone in front of her, instead of supporting her.”

The pair are set to tie the knot at the Union Hotel in Geirangerfjord in Norway on August 31. The location is prized for its typical Norwegian scenery among mountains and fjords.

The VG newspaper, one of Norway’s biggest, said the wedding would be privately paid for.

Following the pair’s engagement last year, King Harald V said that his family was “delighted to welcome” Verret, who hails from California.

The Norwegian princess can trace her ancestry back to Britain’s Queen Victoria.

The couple, who toured the country in 2019 as “The Princess and The Shaman,” have created waves in Norway with their alternative beliefs.

Märtha Louise gave up her royal duties in 2022 to pursue alternative medicine with her man by launching a joint alterna-med business.

The princess decided to keep her royal title — but abdicated her official duties to “create a clearer dividing line” between her roles.

Since meeting Verrett, Märtha Louise has claimed she can talk with angels. Her partner, for his part, claims that he communicates with a broad range of spirits, wields ancient medicine and has a medallion that helps ward off heavy energies, spells and darkness.

And while Verrett will officially join the royal family, he won’t have a title.

Although Princess Märtha Louise is the first child of King Harald V, her brother, Crown Prince Haakon, who is two years younger than her, will succeed his father as king.

The Norwegian Constitution was altered in 1990 to allow the firstborn, regardless of gender, to take precedence in the line of succession.
