Squash! That! Beef!
Andy Cohen had to sort out his years-long feud with Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday night’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”
The tension between the pair began on New Year’s Eve 2021, when Cohen, who was anchoring live from Times Square for CNN, shaded Seacrest’s rival NYE broadcast on ABC.
The following year, Seacrest, 49, claimed that Cohen, 56, “ignored” him during the New Year’s Eve broadcast.
“I don’t even remember what the feud was about,” Cohen, 56, admitted to Seacrest on his late-night Bravo talk show this week.
“I don’t either,” said Seacrest, who appeared on the show alongside his “Wheel of Fortune” co-host Vanna White.
“But we did see each other and we did wave,” Cohen clarified.
Seacrest agreed with the “Real Housewives” franchise producer’s explanation of their drama.
“We did do all of that,” he noted. “I just said are you gonna be there this year. We will be. We will wave. We can’t get to each other or we’d hug.”
“But no,” Seacrest added, “everything’s been good.”
Cohen declared that he thinks “the beef is squashed.”
“The beef has been squashed,” Seacrest agreed.
On NYE 2021, Cohen went off on Seacrest while he was co-hosting “New Year’s Eve Live” on CNN with his BFF Anderson Cooper.
“Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers that are performing behind us,” he said at the time, referencing “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve With Ryan Seacrest.”
He continued, “I mean, with all due [respect], if you’ve been watching ABC tonight, you’ve seen nothing. I’m sorry.”
Cohen later apologized to Seacrest via a January 2022 episode of his radio show on SiriusXM, “Andy Cohen Live,” claiming that the comments were taken out of context.
“The only thing that I regret saying, the only thing is that I slammed the ABC broadcast, and I really like Ryan Seacrest and he’s a great guy,” he clarified at the time.
“And I really regret saying that, and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it,” Cohen added.
But the drama continued when Seacrest claimed on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” in Jan. 2023 that Cohen “ignored” him during the NYE broadcast.
“And Anderson, the best,” the “American Idol” host said. “He turns around and he says, ‘Have a good show.’ Very nice. Andy did not turn around.” Cohen is good friends with Seacrest’s former “Live” co-host Kelly Ripa.
Cohen later claimed that he didn’t even see Seacrest and that the star has a “bug up” about him.
A few days after, the two seemingly settled their beef as Cohen called into Seacrest’s “On Air” radio show, where they both agreed that they are “not” fighting.
Cohen even joked about the feud on NYE 2023 while hosting CNN’s special from Times Square.
“Just want to point out I made a big effort. We waved at Seacrest. He saw us waving so he cannot go around saying that I dissed him,” Cohen said
“I’m just keeping it real clean. We have waved. Connection has been made,” the father of two added.
When Cooper, 57, called out his pal for “stirring the pot,” Cohen responded, “Not really. Just keeping it clean. I’m keeping my side of the street clean this year.”
