49ers quarterback Brock Purdy spent his bye week being a family man, learning the trades of his fianceé’s family business: Farming in Iowa.

Purdy was seen on video operating a combine harvester, posted to Instagram by his longtime girlfriend Jenna Brandt, who he got engaged to in July.

“Wrapping up harvest ’23,” Brandt posted with a heart emoji.

Purdy, who grew up and went to high school in Arizona about 40 miles from Phoenix, looked to be receiving instruction from his future wife while reaping, threshing, and gathering grain on the Iowa farm.

Iowa is typically known for its corn production, the No. 1 crop in the Hawkeye State, but this appears to be about gathering wheat and grain in Iowa.

Purdy is unlikely to have done much farming during his time growing up in Arizona, although there are a few ranches in the area, though they mostly raise cattle.

They first met while students at Iowa State, where Purdy put up prolific numbers as their quarterback and Brandt played volleyball.

Purdy owns 32 school records at Iowa State, was a three-time all-Big 12 honoree, and is already enjoying the most success of any former Cyclone in the NFL.

San Francisco is coming off three straight losses to the Browns, Vikings, and Bengals after smashing the Cowboys on “Sunday Night Football” on Oct. 8.

Purdy suffered a concussion in the loss to the Vikings, but was able to return for the home matchup with the Bengals.

The 23-year-old appeared to bang his head at the end of the loss to Cincinnati, but coach Kyle Shanahan.

The team’s struggles have prompted questions about if Purdy’s success is just a result of Shanahan’s system.

“That’s pretty ridiculous,” Shanahan told reporters this weekk. “You just got to watch the tape. I mean, he plays at a high level every time he’s been out there. And he’s done it in a lot of different situations versus a lot of different defenses, on the road, at home, in playoff games, when injured.

“You can’t do all that stuff [if you’re a system quarterback]. He’s been out there too long. It’s on tape.”

They head southeast to Jacksonville on Sunday, Nov. 12, to face the red-hot Jaguars.
