Former Colorado linebacker Anwawn Jones called out his alma mater for kicking his son out of the team’s recruits area amid an apparent administrative mix-up during the USC game.

The Buffaloes hosted the Trojans in a highly anticipated Pac-12 matchup Sept. 30.

The elder Jones alleged that his son Marco, a four-star recruit on 247 from Danville, Calif., was invited to this game but Marco and his coach were “kicked out” by staffers who didn’t know who he was.

“My son @MarcoJones2025 was invited To Boulder 4 the USC game and he loved it. 4-star LB, son of an Alum, unreal game experience, all was gravy,” the father tweeted, in response to a video posted on X by Colorado commit Talan Chandler.

“Until they kicked Marco out of the recruit area after the game and said they didn’t know who he was.Marco explained who was, they said he wasn’t on the list and was asked to leave. You kicked my son and his coach out of the facility and didn’t care that they traveled from Ca.”

Anwawn Jones appeared in 11 games for Colorado in 2000.

While he said he knows the program has loads of responsibilities and he loves what head coach Deion Sanders is building, the school will be missing out on his son’s talents as a result.

“@CUBuffsFootball I know it’s busy in Boulder with all of the cool things happening, but know, you treated a true blue chipper and the son of a CU buff like a scrub. I’m sad because Marco would have been a great Buff, but the Buffs don’t know who he is,” Jones tweeted.

“I’m a huge supporter of @DeionSanders and I love what he’s doing with the program. I’m going to support all of the recruits that come to CU, it’s too bad Marco won’t be one of them. This one must have slipped through the cracks. #skobuffs #shoulder2shoulder #On2The Next.”

In response to a follower, Jones agreed that it wasn’t a “malicious” error — “but if it was a mistake, where is the my bad? That’s my issue,” he wrote.

Jones added in a separate tweet that his son had the requisite recruiting lanyards, and shared a photo of him and Sanders together.

Marco Jones has other options — according to 247, his other offers include Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, Texas, USC and Notre Dame.
