Indonesia has identified its first case of the Omicron variant.
The case was detected in Jakarta in a hospital employee who had not travelled overseas.
Indonesia’s health minister said there was no community transmission; however, they are waiting on confirmation of five more suspected Omicron cases.
These included two Indonesians who had recently returned from the United States and three Chinese nationals currently in quarantine in North Sulawesi.
