The Australian’s Editor-at-Large Paul Kelly says it was “really important” the leaders of China and the United States had their virtual meeting.
“It’s really important the two leaders had this meeting, that the two Presidents were able to talk to one another and this proves, of course, that they can communicate, they can engage, they’ve got a dialogue going,” Mr Kelly told Sky News Australia.
“We saw the climate change agreement; they’ve demonstrated that there are areas, there aren’t a lot, but there are some areas where they can agree and that’s very important.
“And of course, what this highlights is Australia’s dilemma.
“The downside is we have no communication and that is a real problem.”
