It was an offal accident.

An Australian expressway evoked the floor of a slaughterhouse after an automotive mishap resulted in large amounts of animal entrails dumping all over the road.

“The cleanup will take some time,” wrote the Victoria Traffic’s Twitter account of the “intestinal blockage,” which occurred Thursday near Melbourne.

According to a spokesperson for the Victorian Department of Transport, a meat truck unexpectedly braked while traveling on the M80s, Broadsheet reported. The “stock” car’s sudden stop reportedly caused chunks of offal to “pass over the cabin in a meaty wave” before landing on the exit ramp.

Accompanying Twitter photos show the viscera festooning a busy intersection after the accident like the set of a gory flick.

Several lanes had to be shuttered while the meat spill was dealt with.

In light of the carnage, officials were forced to shutter the left lanes of both the Boundary Road exit ramp on the M80 Ring Road and the Boundary Road eastbound on the M80, while the meaty mess was dealt with. They advised motorists to avoid the area during that time — especially as the mid-80 degree temperatures caused the tripe to ripen, and emit an “offal” stench, Broadsheet reported.

“Whenever there’s an offal spill, it always seems to be warm – I wouldn’t want to be out there cleaning it up,” exclaimed Victorian Department of Transport, Andrew Crook.

Thankfully, the mess has since been cleared.

Thankfully, both the lanes have since reopened following the grisly incident, Victoria Traffic reported.

This isn’t the first time a bizarre spill has snarled up traffic. In November, an armored truck accidentally made it rain money on a California highway, sparking a cash-grab frenzy that resulted in two arrests.
