The rain ended on Saturday, but at Citi Field, they were still battling the elements.
Prior to the Mets’ scheduled doubleheader against the Phillies, the grounds crew was using blow torches to dry the area around the home plate.
It came after Friday’s game was washed out by the heavy rains throughout the area, and the Mets’ game against Miami on Thursday was suspended in the ninth inning by rain.
The Mets and Phillies are scheduled to make up Friday’s game at 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, followed by the regularly scheduled Saturday night game.
The completion of Thursday’s suspended game against Miami is planned for 1:10 p.m. on Monday if the Marlins need it for postseason positioning.
