North Korea has carried out its first missile test of 2022.
Japanese and South Korean officials reported a launch this morning of what was believed to have been a ballistic missile which flew about 500 kilometres towards the East Sea.
South Korea’s National Security Council convened an emergency meeting in which officials called on Pyongyang to return to talks.
North Korea has carried out more than a dozen missile tests over the past two months in breach of United Nations Security Council resolutions.
