The Eagles are no longer “The New Kid In Town.”

On Sept. 20-21, the Rock Hall of Famers’ 20-concert ‘Eagles — Live In Concert at Sphere’ residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere finally got underway.

Over the first two nights, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and co. debuted their two-hour live show, which included the timeless FM radio staples that fans know and love along with Sphere’s singular, all-encompassing visuals.

Billboard raved “the first night of the Eagles’ five-month Sphere residency proved there’s something particularly enchanting about pairing songs that have this deep of a history with a brand-new medium to experience them…this show was worlds apart from any Eagles concert before it.”

“What they’ve crafted not only amplifies their legacy but also offers devotees a genuinely special experience as their touring career trots toward its conclusion,” USA Today chimed in.

To kick off the evening, the ’70s hitmakers launched into their essential classic “Hotel California.”

“Although not many of the visuals in the show otherwise take the lyrics too literally, things do begin with headlights traversing a dark desert highway, bringing the audience in to an inn where all the banquet guests are faceless and frozen,” Variety reported.

After that, the quintet — Henley and Walsh played with Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey — delivered unforgettable ditties “One Of These Nights,” “Lyin’ Eyes,” “Take It To the Limit,” “Witchy Woman” and “Peaceful Easy Feeling” accompanied by jaw-dropping, custom wraparound images that matched the lyrics.

Although Henley underplayed the hugeness of the event — ““We’re just the house band,” he said — the night clearly registered as a spectacle.

And if you want to catch the house band The Eagles rock live, tickets are available for all 18 remaining Sphere shows from now until January 2025.

The Eagles band members

When you’ve been living life in the fast lane since 1971 (!), there’s bound to be a bit of shakeup.

Still, 77-year-old, founding member Don Henley (drums, vocals, also known for the ’80s smash “Boys of Summer), continues to head the group.

At Sphere, he’ll be joined by 76-year-old Joe Walsh (who lent his talents to the James Gang), 76-year-old Timothy B. Schmit (bassist and vocalist, played with Poco), 22-time Grammy winner Vince Gill and the late Glenn Frey’s 31-year-old son Deacon.

Over the course of their half century together, the band has racked up six Grammy Awards, performed 1,000+ concerts, and sold over 150 million albums.
