This hoax-happy hubby pulled a dirty trick on his unsuspecting wife.

Prankster Mike Legg virally bamboozled his bride of 10 years, Joelle, baiting her into a “romantic treasure hunt” using flowers, balloons and heart-shaped confetti leading up to a filthy surprise in the kitchen.

But, instead of a thoughtful gift or sexy time, Joelle — who Mike blindfolded with a plush bunny-shaped eye mask — was slack-jawed to see that her much-ballyhooed boon was nothing more than a sink full of dirty dishes.

“F–k you!” Joelle howls in the now-trending clip of the priceless prank, which has fetched more than 4.5 million viral views on TikTok as of Wednesday afternoon.

“She had no idea what was going on,” Mike, 37, from Auckland, New Zealand, told Kennedy News. “I haven’t given her flowers in ages so she thought I’d done something bad and was guilty of something.”

A consummate jokester, rather than wash the food-stained plates and utensils himself, Mike went to a local shop to purchase the bouquet and decorations before Joelle, a holistic health coach, came home from work. Then, before setting the scene for the gag, he put their sons Rocco, 6, and Brax, 4, to bed.

“I went to the two-dollar shop and got heaps of stuff, heart things for the floor, blew up balloons, tape across the door that I made her cut,” he explained. “I did the full set up, I put the kids to bed and it all went perfectly to plan.”

And, per the video, a genuinely shocked Joelle was none the wiser when she walked through the door.

“I was definitely a little bit suspicious but I did wonder if he was going to be really sweet to me after a long day at work,” she said. “I was very happy with the flowers because I never get flowers.”

At first, Joelle thought her husband was planning to surprise her with a new kitchen appliance.

Although she knew she hadn’t forgotten their anniversary or any other special occasion, Joelle admitted that her mind raced as she was blindly led to what she’d hoped was a loving reveal.

“I’m pretty good with anniversaries so I knew I hadn’t forgotten something. I thought ‘Maybe he is just being really romantic,’” she recalled.

Joelle said, “I wondered whether he’d bought me a new kitchen appliance or something and was really taking the piss out of me. It would have been nice, though.”

The disappointing absence of a gift notwithstanding, Joelle is good-humored enough to tolerate Mike’s silly stunt.

“I had a good laugh about it when I took the blindfold off and I didn’t do them myself, he did the dishes,” she added.

And Mike was relieved that his wife found his tomfoolery funny.

“She knew I was up to something, she cracked up when she saw the dishes. She could have got angry so her reaction was quite funny,” he said. “She’s very patient and she laughs when I do things like this.”

Footage of the trick garnered over 12,000 reactions from online audiences who were tickled by the lighthearted playfulness.

“This is the best thing I have ever seen. I love how she is laughing as well and not getting mad,” penned a viewer.

“Love How she finds it funny. my wife would go berserk,” another agreed.

But Mike said that their sons’ response to the clip took the cake.

“The boys cracked up when they saw the video,” he revealed to Kennedy News. “They knew I was blowing up balloons but they had no idea why.”

Joelle, a regular target of her husband’s goofiness, has learned to roll with the punches.

“I am a bit on edge sometimes because he does prank me a lot,” she said. “Being married to him you have to be calm. Mike’s sense of humour brings out the happy-go-lucky in me and that’s one of the things I like about him.”

She added, “He loves to have a lot of fun and is genuinely a kind-hearted person so he’d never be mean, his heart is always in the right place.”
