Tyreek Hill kicked off the week by continuing his very public praise campaign of his new quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa.

During an appearance Monday on ESPN’s “First Take,” the former Chiefs receiver was asked by Chris “Mad Dog” Russo about transitioning from Patrick Mahomes to the third-year Dolphins quarterback, who Hill previously claimed is a more accurate passer than the 2020 Super Bowl champ.

“I just feel like a lot of people haven’t seen young Tua’s full potential… I had a chance to practice with him… I see a lot of similarities when I look at him and when I see Patrick,” Hill said.

The Chiefs traded Hill to the Dolphins in a March blockbuster after breaking off contract extension negotiations. Hill elaborated Monday on why he chose Tagovailoa over Zach Wilson and the Jets, who were the runners-up in the sweepstakes for his services.

“Zach Wilson is a dog, but I’d rather play with the most accurate quarterback in the NFL,” Hill said.

The expectations are high this season for the Dolphins and Tagovailoa, who Hill also called a “f–king heck of a competitor.” The team missed the playoffs last year despite a regular season record of 9-8.

Tagovailoa, the fifth overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, threw for 2,653 yards with 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 13 games in 2021, which was Wilson’s rookie season. The former BYU product threw for 2,334 yards with nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions in the same number of games.

With Tagovailoa and Wilson both entering the 2022 season as veterans, it remains to be seen if the unproven quarterbacks can take big steps forward — especially with new weapons at their disposal.
